THE HISTORY
OF CITY TO CITY
NORTH AMERICA

City to City North America was birthed from Redeemer City to City in New York and has been steadily growing to serve the cities of North America. We recruit, train, coach, and fund urban church planters from trans-denominational backgrounds. We are now seeing these networks multiply churches, become self-sustaining and advance the gospel in their cities.

City to City was co-founded and chaired by Tim Keller. After transitioning out of his position as senior pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church and until his passing in 2024, Tim Keller held a full-time role with City to City, focusing on ministry in global cities like Johannesburg, Mumbai, London, São Paulo and New York City. He and City to City’s global leaders worked together to invest in and pass along what they have learned to a new generation of ministry leaders. CTCNA continues to build and propel this movement of the gospel through networks across North America.

We want to see the unified witness of Christ Jesus
through the people of God in our cities.

OUR values

  • Nothing will be accomplished without outward facing, Christ exalting, faith-filled prayers by God’s people. This should flow from leaders who practice introspective prayer that engages confession and spiritual renewal in ways that allow our individual lives to be congruent with the kingdom we pray is established on earth as it is in heaven.

  • Everything we do as a movement must center on the reality of the person of Jesus: his life, death, resurrection, and his promise to restore all things. We are brought into union with Christ by grace alone and seek to communicate the life changing message of Christ to all people.

  • As a fellowship we are committed to repentance and reconciliation. The gospel brings us face to face with a humble savior and a holy God. We humble ourselves before the cross - turning from our selfish and sinful ways, and from our self-made idols, vowing to live anew in the power of the Spirit. We humbly seek reconciliation with our family, neighbors, and everyone in our city as an important means to embody the reality of our forgiveness in Christ.

  • We are captured by the vision of beauty expressed in God’s diverse kingdom as well as in our city. Because of this, we are intentional in building teams and investing our collective resources in initiatives that are multi-ethnic. This is especially important given our own cultural idols of division and subjugation. We believe this is an important way to reflect God’s heart for all people.

  • We believe in the importance of the local church as a distinct, but connected part of the wider body of Christ. We are committed to working across denominations to pursue collaboration and synergy. We are intentional to design tables that include and are hospitable to others.

  • We believe the radical values of the kingdom invert power structures, humble the proud, draw the margins toward the center, and cultivate compassion for the marginalized and poor. We intentionally practice inviting voices that are overlooked by the power structures of our day to be at the forefront of our leadership movements.
